My girlfriend and I recently bought our first home in Bath with @home acting as the agents for the vendor.

From the acceptance of our offer to completion the service they offered was outstanding.

Buying a house is always going to be stressful at times, but we were incredibly impressed throughout by the calm and professional way in which @home assisted our purchase, even though as the buyers we were not their clients.

We were particularly grateful for @home’s ability to reply almost immediately to any question we may have had. I am certain that were it not for their hard work our completion date would have been much later than it eventually was.

Only a 6 litre bottle !!

The fledgling group being set up to represent independent estate and letting agents is preparing a formal complaint about Purplebricks based on what it claims to be “misleading advertisements.”

The Charter for Independent Estate and Letting Agents - which hasn’t yet formally launched but has held preliminary meetings to establish its structure - says its founding members are making “final preparations” for the lodging of such a complaint, initially with Purplebricks itself.

A statement from CIELA issued last evening said that the complaint was “in particular that claiming savings when comparing a no-sale, no fee model versus an advertising fee is recklessly misleading.”

FC Bath U10 Blue v Worton Cheverell (A)

Congratulations to the FC Bath U10 Blue for a strong away performance despite a determined comeback from the home team.

FC Bath U10's Blues made the long trip to Markey Lavington on a cold morning.

The boys showed great team play and excellent passing throughout the game on a very bumpy pitch.

Amin with a man mountain display at the heart of our defence and goalkeeper George with a finger tipped save over the crossbar kept the home team at bay in the first half. A quality headed goal from Brandon, who was outstanding throughout the whole game, saw our boys up at half time.

The second half was more open and saw goals from Jacob and two from Noah, before the hosts got themselves back into the game which set up a very tense final few minutes.

The Blue team: George W, Noah T, Brandon A, Amin O, Harry H, Jacob H, Alex S, James E, Freddie SM.

Madison Oakley could have caused a new family to lose over £50,000 on our house sale!!
We contacted Madison Oakley first for a valuation on our property. Though we booked with them first, we wanted a second opinion for a balanced view on our property's worth. Luckily the second agent came out before, because Madison Oakley grossly undervalued our house! The other agent valued our house at around £220-£240k, with an absolute maximum asking price of £250k. The agent from Madison Oakley told us this was ridiculous and said we should market it at around £175-180k. They said that £200k would be a difficult push. This they based on properties sold years ago! The agent then told us that we would not be using them, even though we hadn't decided ourselves! We ended up getting a third valuation, because of the mixed reviews. This other local independent valued down the middle of the first valuation. We went with them instead as their costs were significantly lower than MO and our house sold in 2 days for £50,000 more than Oakley valued it at. I am so glad we got a second and third opinion, so we didn't lose out on that money.
 

Comment on agent fees
Not competitive, even their "special offer" for the"slow market" was higher than most other agencies in Bath at the time.

Having seen @Home properties everywhere selling quickly, and having had disappointing experiences elsewhere, we decided to go with Toby and his team. Toby was amazing! So helpful and informative, thoroughly detailing everything I needed to know about selling my property. He was very clued up about the area and had an impressive portfolio to show when he valued my property. Everything they do is an exceptionally high standard, even down to the property brochures, which are the best I have seen.
 

Comment on agent fees
Very good value. The cheapest independent in Bath, to my knowledge and negotiable during quiet markets.
